ISLAMABAD: Mahmood Ahmad Saghar, the Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, emphasized the significant role played by the Human Rights Council of Pakistan in bringing attention to the dispute of Kashmir. Speaking to a delegation led by its Chairman Jamshed Hussain at the APHC-AJK office, Saghar praised the Council for its consistent efforts in raising awareness about the Kashmir issue both politically and diplomatically.

Saghar underscored the Council’s steadfast commitment to advocating for the Kashmiri people’s fundamental right to self-determination. He highlighted the Council’s current support for the Kashmiri cause.

The Council delegation, consisting of Hurriyat leaders such as Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Imtiaz Wani, and Syed Ijaz Rahmani, condemned the Indian government’s oppressive tactics in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The leaders reiterated that Kashmir remains a disputed territory recognized by the international community, with the United Nations affirming the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination through multiple Security Council resolutions.

In response, Jamshed Hussain, Chairman of the Human Rights Council of Pakistan, praised the resilience of the Kashmiri people in the face of adversity.

He denounced the Modi-led government’s attempts to quash their spirit through violence, arrests, and draconian measures, emphasizing that such tactics would not diminish the Kashmiris’ determination for freedom.
