More Rain, Wind, Thunderstorm Likely in Most Parts of Pakistan This Week

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted further rain-wind and thunderstorms in most parts of the country during this week with occasional gaps. It is worth mentioning here that the last rain spill caused huge losses including the death of over 70 people across the country.

According to the Met office the westerly wave is likely to enter western parts of this country from Wednesday, to possibly grip most parts of the country, particularly the upper region on April 26. 

Rain, Wind, Thunderstorm in Baluchistan

Under the influence of the fresh weather system, rain-wind and thunderstorms are expected in different parts of Baluchistan comprising Quetta, Ziarat, Shirani Pishin, Noushki, Harnai, Zhob, Barkhan, Gwadar, Kech, Awaran, Chagi, Kharan, Kalat, Mastung, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Sibbi, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Loralai, Qilla Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, and Musa Khel from Wednesday Night (April 24) till Saturday morning (April 27).

Rain, Thunderstorm in KP

Meanwhile, rain-windstorm and thunderstorm and snowfall over high mountains is also expected in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Waziristan, Kohat, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan and Kurram with intermittent gaps from 25th to 29th of this month. Hailstorm is also expected at isolated places during the same period.

Similarly, the Met office forecasted rain-wind and thunderstorms with few heavy falls and snowfall over high mountains in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir including Gilgit, Skardu, Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Hunza, Ghanche, Shigar), Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Mirpur and Bhimber with occasional gaps from 26th to 29th April.

Situation in Punjab

Rain-wind/thunderstorm with few moderate and heavy falls is also expected in the federal capital and in Punjab comprising Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Pakpattan, Sargodha and Sahiwal from 26th to 29th April while, in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar is likely to receive rain with hailstorm in some parts with occasional gaps from April 26-28.

Sindh Region

The Sindh district is also likely to receive light rain, and duststorm in some parts including Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Jamshoro Qambar Shahdad Kot and Sanghar on April 25 and April 26.

According to PMD the possible rain, and thunderstorm is likely to generate flash floods in local nullahs, streams including Noushki, Pishin, Harnai, Zhob, Barkhan, Gwadar, Kech and Awaran in Baluchistan on April 26 and 27, and in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Manshera, Kohistan (KP) and Kashmir on April 27 and April 28, with possibilities of landslides in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from April 27th to 29th April. 

PMDA also issued an advisory to the farmers especially in wheat-harvested areas to manage their crops keeping in view the weather conditions that may have affected the standing crops. Tourists are also advised to avoid unnecessary travelling during these days.
