ISLAMABAD: A cinematic tribute to Pakistan’s unsung heroes, the short film ‘Muhafiz’ by Khadim Hussain Chakarani made its debut at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts in Islamabad.
The 28-minute production, a collaborative effort by university students, illuminates the unwavering commitment and sacrifices of the country’s police force, shedding light on the challenges faced by police jawans day and night.
The grand screening, attended by Inspector General Islamabad Police, Dr. Akbar Khan, positioned the film as a poignant portrayal of the professional journey and personal struggles of those serving in the police force. Distinguished guests, including Ambassador Commonwealth Club (Pakistan) Tahir Ashraf Mughal, civil society members, police officers, and representatives from various schools of thought, graced the event.
Khadim Hussain Chakarani, the visionary behind “Muhafiz,” passionately discussed his motivation to dispel unwarranted criticism against the police. Serving as the director, producer, and lead actor, he emphasized that the film was a labor of love, crafted on a personal budget. The production received technical and logistical support from Punjab Police, with university students who completed internships in police offices actively contributing to the film’s creation.
The film provides a compelling glimpse into the professional and personal life difficulties faced by a dedicated police inspector, offering a nuanced perspective on the challenges and sacrifices inherent in the profession.
Inspector General Islamabad Police, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, lauded the exceptional efforts of the young filmmaker and encouraged him to continue impactful storytelling in future projects. He expressed appreciation for the film’s portrayal of the police force’s dedication and sacrifice. Dr. Khan reiterated the commitment to producing more films in the future that highlight the multifaceted nature of the police force, emphasizing unity and their role as protectors of the nation, transcending provincial boundaries. The premiere marked a significant recognition of the invaluable contributions made by Pakistan’s police force and their indispensable role in maintaining law and order.
