MAKKAH: The Muslim World League (MWL) has expressed support for the “Riyadh Declaration,” which calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of prisoners and hostages, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

The MWL voiced its support for the outcomes of the Ministerial Committee meeting assigned by the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit with foreign ministers of European countries, chaired by the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, and Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide.

The meeting calls for ending the war in Gaza, stopping all violations, addressing the catastrophic humanitarian crisis, and moving into a political solution that can lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution.

It also expressed support to all efforts for international recognition of the Palestinian state and implementation of all relevant international resolutions to achieve just and lasting peace and realize the rights of the people of Palestine.
