ISLAMABAD: Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah is likely to end his journey with Quetta Gladiators and join Islamabad United for the upcoming 9th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), sources revealed on Saturday.
A week before, there were reports that Nassem Shah might join Peshawar Zalmi in the next edition of PSL. However, reports received on Saturday revealed that the fast bowler who is recovering from his shoulder injury, has initiated talks with Islamabad United, and a formal announcement is expected in a couple of days.
Meanwhile, wicket-keeper batsman Azam Khan and pacer Mohammad Wasim Junior are among the strong candidates to join Quetta Gladiators for PSL 2024.
Preparations for PSL 2024
Meanwhile, the preparations are ramping up for PSL 9th Edition, along with the finalization of the Pick Order for the Player Draft.
Quetta Gladiators would make the first pick in the PSL 2024 Player Draft. Karachi Kings and two-time champions Islamabad United would have the second and third picks. Peshawar Zalmi would do the fourth and fifth picks and last season’s runners-up Multan Sultans, respectively, while winners of the past two editions, Lahore Qalandars, would finish the first round with the sixth pick.
The selection order for the first round for the Platinum category would be determined by the inverse order on the basis of the standings from the previous season. Accordingly, a different franchise shall occupy the first pick in the first round of each category.
Quetta Gladiators would initiate the process with the Platinum picks, Karachi Kings would go for the Diamond pick first, Peshawar Zalmi with the Gold category, Multan Sultans with Silver, Islamabad United with a first pick from the Emerging category, and Lahore Qalandars would have their first pick from the Supplementary category.
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has opened the registration window for foreign players, whereas the sensational super league is tentatively scheduled from 8 February to 24 March 2024.
