National Conference on National Security & Foreign Policy Held in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Three organizations joined hands to organize a National Conference on National Security and Foreign Policy with a view to discussing and formulating concrete and doable recommendations for the incoming elected government of Pakistan.

The event was hosted jointly in Islamabad by the Sanober Institute, TMUC Islamabad, and the Centre for Law and Security (CLAS).

More than 20 experts, academics, and former practitioners came together for in-depth discussions on 4 inter-connected themes: South Asia’s Geopolitics, Pakistan and its Western Frontiers, the National Security of Pakistan, and the Economic Security of Pakistan.

A large number of scholars, researchers, TMUC students, and the think tank community attended panel discussions and appreciated the national debate on matters of critical significance for a brighter future for the country.

Addressing the Conference, Chairman Sanober Institute Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said that the world around us is changing at a rapid pace, which in turn is affecting our region, South Asia. In these times of dynamic change, there are challenges but also opportunities for Pakistan.

Conference Presents Concrete Recommendations

He said that the discussions at the event had produced several concrete recommendations for consideration by the policymakers of the incoming elected government.

Founder & CEO of Roots Millennium Education Group and Chairman Advisory Board Centre for Law and Security CLAS Dr. Faisal Mushtaq expressed the hope that this joint endeavor by three organizations in the private sector would provide useful guidance for the new government that would assume power after the elections of 8t February.

Renowned journalist and Executive Director of Centre for Law and Security CLAS Rehman Azhar highlighted the need for all thinking minds of the country to pool their expertise to enable the next government to address the big challenges of national security and foreign policy confronting the country.
