BRUSSELS: NATO on Thursday strongly condemned Russian malign activities on its territory, saying actions like sabotage, violence, disinformation and cyber interference threatened the security of the military alliance.

NATO in a statement said that the incidents are part of an intensified campaign of activities that Russia is conducting across the Euro-Atlantic area and NATO allies are deeply concerned over hybrid actions of Russia which is a threat to allied security.

Authorities in Britain, Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland have recently charged people in connection with anti-state activities.

NATO said its allies would work together to defend and deter against the hybrid activities. It said the military alliance would remain steadfast in supporting Ukraine as it struggles to combat Russia’s invasion, now entering in third year.

Last month, a 20-year-old British citizen was charged with masterminding a plot against a Ukrainian-linked target in London. Russia’s ambassador Andrey Kelin rejected claims of links of Moscow to such action as absurd and unfounded.

Czech authorities in late March, said they had busted a Moscow-financed network for spreading Russian propaganda and exerted influence across Europe, including in the European Parliament.
