Nawaz Sharif Urges PM Shehbaz Sharif to Woo Maulana Fazlur Rehman

ISLAMABAD: Nawaz Sharif, the supreme leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has tasked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with the responsibility of holding talks with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), regarding the country’s political situation.

During their meeting today, Prime Minister Shehbaz and Maulana Fazlur Rehman will discuss the political climate in the country. The premier will also inform Rehman about the ruling alliance’s election strategy.

Local media reported that Maulana Fazlur Rehman, accompanied by Minister for Communication Asad Mehmood, arrived at the Prime Minister’s House to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz.

In a separate meeting, the prime minister held discussions with Minister for Communication Asad Mehmood, exchanging views on the country’s political situation.

PM Shehbaz Sharif Praises Pakistan-China Relations

In another development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the “Iron Brotherhood” between Pakistan and China, highlighting the successful completion of projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework over the past decade.

He attributed the accomplishments to President Xi Jinping’s vision and also acknowledged the leadership role of his elder brother, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in overseeing the implementation of CPEC projects. The prime minister emphasized Nawaz Sharif’s dedication to reviewing progress, ensuring timelines, and fine-tuning project details.

Nawaz Sharif’s directive to engage Maulana Fazlur Rehman indicates a proactive approach by the PML-N in building alliances ahead of upcoming elections.
