ISLAMABAD: Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Tapas Adhikari, on Sunday, extended an invitation to the Sialkot business community, urging them to participate in the upcoming Nepal Chamber Expo-2024 in March and the Investment Summit in April 2024.
During his tour of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said that the participation of Sialkot entrepreneurs could pave the way for investment, business promotion, and technology transfer.
He said that the Government of Nepal was ready to extend all kinds of support to foreign direct investment.
The envoy said that Sialkot could be a role model for Nepali people and that it has emerged from a small town to a global business hub due to the innovation, hard work, and entrepreneurship of its people.
He said that Nepal and Pakistan needed more economic engagements.
The envoy commended the contribution of Sialkot entrepreneurs, making the city a hub of sports goods, kitchen cutlery products, and surgical items in Pakistan.
Nepal’s Tea Exports to Pakistan
He said that recently, Nepal exported six tea containers to the Pakistani market after decades. Nepal is a tourist hub of South Asia, and its Sherpas are sharing their skills and expertise with Pakistani mountaineers. Every year, they bring a large number of foreign mountaineers to Pakistan, which is becoming beneficial for its people.
The diplomat visited the units of FIFA World Cup football manufacturer ‘Forward’, sports garment manufacturer ‘Rajco, and surgical equipment manufacturer ‘Elmed’.
On the occasion, President SCCI Abdul Ghafoor Malik said that Pakistan and Nepal share cordial ties.
He said that 2024 would mark 64 years of strong bilateral ties based on deep understanding, mutual respect, and a shared vision for peace and the socio-economic progress of both nations.
Malik said that both nations need to focus on further enhancing economic relations, as there is ample scope of opportunities waiting to be explored.
