SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has criticized India for holding the people of Kashmir hostage and depriving them of their basic rights and freedoms for the last seventy years in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to local media reports, APHC leaders Bashir Andrabi, Muhammad Yosuf Naqash, Farooq Ahmed, Ghulam Nabi War, Attaullah, Javed Ahmed, and Imtiyaz Ahmed Shaikh, in their separate statements highlighted the miseries of people of Kashmir. They said that India has employed various brutal tactics in the occupied territory to suppress the legitimate struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.

They pointed out that Modi’s regime has intensified its repression in IIOJK since the revocation of the territory’s special status in August 2019, aiming to subjugate the Kashmiri people. They lamented that the Modi government has increased its atrocities in IIOJK, with daily reports of killings, detentions, and torture.

The APHC leaders emphasised that New Delhi’s brutal policies and militaristic approach have been significant barriers to peaceful resolution of the longstanding issue of Kashmir. They stressed that it is the responsibility of the international community to resolve the Kashmir dispute as per resolutions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

They reiterated that the resolution of the issue of Kashmir as per UN resolutions is crucial to ending Indian atrocities in IIOJK, and establishing lasting peace and stability in South Asia.—APP
