This exhibition allowed attendees to admire and acquire remarkable artworks, textiles, jewelry, and more directly from these skilled artisans.

The exhibition served as a testament to the collaboration between Nomad Art Gallery and partners across Pakistan. It showcased the work of community-based artisans, budding graduates, and enterprising entrepreneurs.

The diverse offerings ranged from the richly hued textiles of Sindh, including silk and cotton Ajrak, block-printed fabrics, totes, and home accessories, to the intricate beauty of Kashmiri embroidery and shawls, as well as trendy ensembles and handmade toys.

The first film screening of the evening, “Androon Lahore,” transported the audience on a captivating journey through the lens of artist Nageen Hyat, unveiling the storied history of Lahore’s walled city.

This documentary masterfully captured the essence of the city’s rich heritage, shedding light on the lives of its inhabitants before and after its restoration. “Androon Lahore” offered a poignant exploration of the city’s vibrant past, emphasizing its enduring relevance in the contemporary world.

The second film, “Posheeda Qadam,” courageously tackled the pervasive issue of violence against women and youth and the discriminatory laws prevalent in South Asia. This thought-provoking film challenged the patriarchal narrative that has long prevailed in the region.

“Posheeda Qadam” fearlessly scrutinized draconian laws, such as the Law of Evidence and the Hudood Ordinance, which infringe upon fundamental constitutional rights. The film also spotlighted the repercussions of cyberbullying and harassment alongside distressing statistics concerning violence against women.

Beyond celebrating indigenous crafts, this event was a platform for fostering meaningful dialogues on vital societal issues. With its unwavering commitment, Serena Hotels provides a space where art, culture, and discourse converge to catalyze positive change in the community.
