GAZA: The Palestinian death toll in the year 2023 is the largest Palestine has witnessed since the 1948 Nakba, Arab media reported on Sunday.

The Central Bureau of Statistics stated at the end of year 2023 the number of Palestinians killed in the occupied territories stands at 22,404 since October 7. At least 98 percent people were killed Gaza, Arab media reported. It added that 9,000 children and 6,450 women were also killed in the Gaz Strip since October 7.

Similarly, the number of people killed in the occupied West Bank since October 7 reached around 319, including four women and 111 children.

Over 100 journalists were also killed, the Health Ministry said, while the number of missing persons in the Gaza Strip is more than 7,000 people, 67 percent children and women.

Meanwhile, a former Palestinian Authority (PA) minister was killed on Sunday in an Israeli attack on his home in Gaza, local officials and media reported.

According to official news agency of Palestine Wafa, Youssef Salama, the 68-year-old ex-minister of the Palestinian Authority, was killed in an attack on the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.

He served as minister in PA from February 2005 to March 2006. Youssef Salama also worked as a preacher at Al-Aqsa mosque in the Old City of Jerusalem, local media reported.
