OGRA, PEMRA Jointly Launch Awareness Drive Against Substandard Cylinders

ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Spokesperson Imran Ghaznavi on Wednesday said that OGRA with the joint efforts of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had initiated an extensive awareness drive against the sale of substandard gas cylinders during the winter season, prioritizing the safety and well-being of consumers.

He said during an interview with a private news channel that all LPG marketing companies have been strongly advised to enforce strict compliance with safety instructions at distributor premises to prevent any potential incidents in the future. Additionally, these companies are encouraged to organize seminars and social media campaigns to raise awareness among distributors.

“Our awareness drive aims with these drives we are to educate local companies to ensure their respective distributors thoroughly inspect the LPG cylinder with respect to any physical damage or leakage before delivering them to customers.”

“LPG marketing companies have been instructed to guide their distributors to educate every customer through posters displayed at distributor’s premises on the safe use of LPG cylinders and also spread the brochure among the customers for the awareness of the safety measures,” he added.

“It is a joint campaign and is a part of our precautionary measures to ensure the safety of gas cylinder users, Ghaznavi further said.

“In an endeavour to prevent accidents at home, the campaign will provide users with the accurate safety method of transporting and handling the LPG cylinders,” he added.

“Our campaign is designed to remind people, particularly housewives, maids and workers, about the safe utilization of cylinders within homes,” he added.  —APP
