OIC Condemns the “Villa Rose” Terrorist Attack, Leaving Eight Killed

JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Villa Rose Hotel in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.

The General Secretariat of OIC issued a statement reaffirming that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation OIC condemns all forms of terrorism and its manifestations. OIC reiterates its support for the Somali government’s efforts for counter-terrorism.

Following an overnight terrorist attack by the Al Shabab terror group in the heart of the capital, Mogadishu, the elite and Five Star Hotel “Villa Rose” located close to the presidential palace, Somalia’s security forces have engaged in gunfire with militants who seized the hotel in capital Mogadishu.

According to APP, at least eight people are killed and numerous were injured in the terror attack which lasted for more than 12 hours with the seize ended militants took control of a hotel.

Al Shabab, an armed organization linked to Al Qaeda that has had to fight for the last 15 years in order to topple Somalia’s government, claimed responsibility for the assault.
