OIC Secretary-General Witnesses Signing of Nine Key Agreements at Islamic Summit Conference

BANJUL, Gambia: During the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, The Gambia, on May 4, 2024, OIC Secretary-General H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, alongside H.E. Mr. Carlos Pinto Pereira, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Communities of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, presided over the signing ceremony of nine pivotal agreements and conventions of the OIC and its institutions.

The signed agreements encompass a wide spectrum of areas, including the establishment of essential institutions and the formulation of frameworks for cooperation and coordination among OIC member states. These agreements include the Statute of the OIC Women Development Organization, the Statute of the OIC Labor Center, and the Statute of the International Islamic Court of Justice.

Furthermore, agreements such as the Agreement Establishing the Islamic Committee of the International Crescent, the OIC Convention on Combating International Terrorism, and the Covenant on the Rights of the Child in Islam underscore the OIC’s commitment to addressing pressing global challenges.

Expressing gratitude to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau and its Minister of Foreign Affairs for their active participation, the Secretary-General emphasized the significance of these agreements in enhancing cooperation and solidarity among OIC member states. He urged all member states to follow suit and sign these agreements to bolster the collective efforts of the organization in advancing shared goals and priorities.
