JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday strongly condemned the escalation of the aggression by Israeli occupation forces targeting the Gaza Strip.
The OIC in a statement denounced the expansion of aggression to include the city of Rafah, home to approximately 1.3 million displaced Palestinians. The aggressive action is viewed as a continuation of the genocide against the Palestinian people and a blatant attempt to displace them from their rightful land.
The statement further stated that such actions are deemed in clear violation of international resolutions and the provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Moreover, the OIC expressed deep concern over threats made by the Israeli Prime Minister to further expand military criminal aggression against Rafah, regardless of any ceasefire agreements. This stance confirmed his rejection of UN resolutions and efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire.
The OIC warned of the imminent humanitarian crisis that could result from a potential invasion of Rafah by Israeli forces. Such an invasion not only poses a grave risk to the well-being of civilians but may lead to expand the scope of tension and instability in the region.
The OIC reiterated its call on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by compelling Israel, the occupying power, to cease its military aggression and halt ongoing crimes across Palestinian territories. Furthermore, the OIC emphasized the urgent need for international protection for the Palestinian people, in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
