JEDDAH: Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Ibrahim Taha, has expressed his dissatisfaction and disappointment with the UNSC’s inability to approve a crucial truce resolution for Gaza, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday.

The Secretary General sees this failure as a detrimental reflection on the Council’s vital role in upholding world peace, safeguarding civilian population, and halting the deteriorating humanitarian crisis caused by relentless Israeli aggression against people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip.

Hissein Ibrahim Taha maintained that the United Nations Security Council’s inaction permits the Israeli occupation to persist in and intensify its attacks on Palestinians. The Secretary General lauded the countries that supported the resolution and stressed the necessity of current efforts to secure an immediate truce, ensure the delivery of humanitarian help to the besieged enclave, and provide global protection for Palestinians.
