LONDON: Olivia Wilde found herself in the midst of a social media storm after she shared her opinion on Taylor Swift’s rumored relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce. The 39-year-old filmmaker took to her social media to post a tweet on her Instagram story that read: “I wish Taylor Swift was in love with a climate scientist.” Fans interpreted this subtle remark as a dig at the attention the pop star’s relationship has been receiving.

Wilde, an environmental advocate and co-founder of Conscious Commerce, a conscious creative agency, has been vocal about her concerns for the environment. However, Swift’s fans, known as Swifties, were quick to defend the singer, pointing out Wilde’s past relationship with Harry Styles, who is also an ex of Taylor Swift.

“She wasn’t worried about climate change when she was flying across the country to go chase Harry,” one user responded, highlighting Wilde’s own history.

Some supporters of Wilde argued that she was not attacking Taylor Swift personally but rather commenting on the media’s fixation on celebrity relationships. They noted that Swift’s private jet usage has been criticized, making her relationship with Kelce a subject of public interest.

Travis Kelce’s Popularity After Relationship with Taylor Swift

Since the rumors about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce started circulating, Kelce’s popularity soared, ranking him as the third most searched person in the U.S., following Beyoncé and Swift herself, according to Marca.

Recently, Kelce expressed his amazement at the attention he received due to his association with Swift. He shared his experience attending a game with Taylor and other celebrities, saying, “It’s almost depressing, by the way. I can make 50 more hit movies and shows, and I’ll still be known as the guy in the orange suede jacket going to the Chiefs-Jets game with Taylor and others.” He praised Taylor’s extraordinary popularity, describing her as a “culture magnet” unlike anyone he had ever seen.
