PAF Chief, Uzbekistan Envoy Discuss Defence and Economic Ties

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu has said that Pakistan values its strong diplomatic, defence and economic ties with Uzbekistan, which are based on convergence on all key issues relating to regional security, peace and stability.

The air chief said this while talking to the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Aybek Arif Usmanov, who called upon him at his office on Thursday. During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest and regional developments, said a press release issued by the PAF spokesperson.

According to a press release, the air chief apprised Aybek Arif of the pragmatic policy decisions focused on modernizing the Pakistan Air Force through the intelligent acquisition of essential technologies, upgradation of infrastructure and revitalizing training and operational domains.

The air chief underscored the longstanding cultural, religious and historical bond between Uzbekistan and Pakistan based on convergence on all important matters relating to regional security, peace and stability.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Aybek Arif Usmanov expressed his admiration for the remarkable progress achieved by Pakistan Air Force, particularly in indigenization, and hailed the professionalism of PAF personnel.

The envoy pledged to play his role in further improving the existing bilateral relations at all levels and expressed his desire to consolidate cooperation in various fields, including emerging technologies, training, and mutual cooperation in the aviation industry.

The press release further stated that the meeting between the air chief and the Uzbek ambassador symbolized the deep-rooted friendship and unwavering commitment between Pakistan and Uzbekistan to work towards a stable and peaceful region.
