Pak Ambassador to US hails Punjab-California state-province agreement

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Masood Khan on Wednesday appreciated the recently signed Punjab-California sister state-province agreement, termed it historic while adding that after implementation, the agreement will make it possible to open up vistas for enhancing economic interaction between Pakistan and United States.

The Ambassador said that in a meeting with Farrah N. Khan, a Pakistani of American descent, who is currently serving as the mayor of Irvine city in the state of California, who had called upon him. During the meeting she underlined Irvine’s significant progress in sectors such as technology, medi-tech, and artificial intelligence.

The family of Farrah Khan, 52, migrated to the United States during her childhood. In November 2022, the Lahore-born Farrah Khan became the first lady of color and the first Muslim to lead the large American city.  She is now serving her second term.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador, after congratulating her on her successful political career, said that her leadership qualities and successes make Pakistan and the Pakistani diaspora in the United States proud.

Punjab-California Sister State-Province Agreement

He further said the recent Punjab-California Sister Province Agreement offered a model to establish domain-specific state-to-province and city-to-city economic linkages between the two countries.

“The tech startups of Pakistan, manned by enterprising youth, and a vibrant technology sector of Irvine could furnace strong partnerships for not only meeting the economic requirements of the two countries but also to strengthen people-to-people exchanges,” Masood Khan added.

Meanwhile, Farrah Khan highlighted the valuable contributions being made by the Pakistani diaspora towards the socio-economic development of Irvine and the state of California.
