Pakistan Army Chief Visits HIT, Commends Innovation in HAIDER Tank Development

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir, visited Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) on Tuesday as the chief guest for the rollout ceremony of the HAIDER tank (Pilot Project).

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, representatives from the Chinese state company NORINCO, high-ranking officials from the Government of Pakistan and Pakistan Army, as well as various military and civilian officials from HIT.

During the event, HIT unveiled its latest creation, the HAIDER Tank, which was developed indigenously through collaboration with NORINCO China and various industries in Pakistan.

HAIDER showcases cutting-edge technology and impressive capabilities in tank warfare, boasting remarkable firepower, protection, and maneuverability characteristics. It represents a significant achievement for the Pakistani defense industry, highlighting its dedication to innovation in defense.

The Army Chief received a detailed briefing on the technical capabilities of the HAIDER tank and the progress made in achieving indigenization in arms and armament.

On the occasion, the COAS also visited other manufacturing facilities within the Heavy Industrial Complex, commending the dedication of officers and workers in reaching another technological milestone.

Earlier upon arrival, the Chairman of HIT welcomed General Munir.
