Pakistan: Cancer Hospital Project Inaugurated at PIMS in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s federal Minister for Health, Abdul Qadir Patel, on Monday inaugurated the two-hundred-bed cancer hospital at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, he said that a large number of people living in Islamabad and other cities will get direct benefits from this facility with having all the required medical services for cancer patients.

He said that an amount of Rs1 billion had been allocated initially to utilize for the construction of this modern health facility, where all concerned required services would be provided.

He said that besides launching new projects in main hospitals, the government had upgraded the basic health facilities and rural health centers where several hundred patients can visit daily for the treatment of different diseases.

More Modern Hospitals

The minister said that more such modern facilities would be established in Islamabad.

Patel further said that the aim of the government was to provide all basic health services across the country at the doorsteps of the people.

He said that the major hospitals in Islamabad have been facing a burden of patients, and with the establishment of new basic health centers, this burden would gradually decrease.
