ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will now work directly under the prime minister’s office after it has been put out of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination’s domain.

The decision has been taken by the caretaker government, saying the prime minister, who is also the PCB’s Patron-in-Chief, will oversee the matters.

The board is no longer answerable to the Ministry. After the decision, the IPC secretary will also no longer be a member of the board of governors.

Pakistan Cricket Board’s 2014 constitution

According to PCB’s 2014 constitution, the IPC ministry is the only link between the prime minister and the PCB. Any direct link between the two would be deemed an unconstitutional act.

The secretary of the IPC ministry has been inducted into the PCB Board of Governors to make sure that the ministry remains up-to-date on the developments on the board.

It is still unclear as to who would be answerable to the Senate/National Assembly or Standing Committees when it comes to getting information on the workings of the board.

PCB remained accountable to the IPC for a long time, but finally, the rule has been changed.
