Pakistan Cricket Boss Promises Reward for Each Player if Team Wins T20I World Cup

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday announced that each player of the cricket team will be awarded $100,000 if the team wins the upcoming ICC T20I World Cup 2024 which is set to commence in June.

The declaration was made by Naqvi during a luncheon hosted for the Pakistan cricket team at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, as they gear up for their upcoming tours of Ireland and England. The announcement adds an extra layer of motivation for the players as they prepare to represent their nation on the global stage.

Currently undergoing a rigorous training camp in Lahore, the Green Shirts are set to commence their tour of Ireland on May 7, where they will face off against the Irish team in a three-match T20I series from May 10 to May 14. Subsequently, the national side will embark on a tour of England, engaging in a four-match T20I series starting from May 22.

Mohsin Naqvi, during his interaction with the team, emphasized the importance of playing without pressure and urged the players to exhibit unwavering determination on the field. “Don’t care about anyone. Play only for Pakistan,” Naqvi remarked, encouraging a unified team effort.

Addressing the players, Naqvi underscored the nation’s high expectations and expressed confidence in their ability to bring home glory. He emphasized the significance of teamwork and urged the team to strive for victory relentlessly.

Moreover, Naqvi reassured the players that their concerns and challenges would be addressed promptly, emphasizing the PCB’s commitment to supporting the team’s needs.

In recognition of individual achievements, Naqvi presented special jerseys to wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan and pacer Naseem Shah for their remarkable milestones in T20I cricket – Rizwan for achieving 3,000 runs and Shaheen Shah for claiming 100 wickets in the format.

Pakistan’s schedule of upcoming matches includes a series of high-stakes encounters against Ireland and England, providing ample opportunity for the team to fine-tune their skills and build momentum ahead of the T20I World Cup.
