Pakistan Cricket Squad Leaves for England, Ireland Tour

LAHORE:  The Pakistan cricket team has departed from Lahore for a trip of England and Ireland in early hours of Tuesday.

The 18-member squad departed from the National Cricket Academy, Lahore. The squad is led by skipper Babar Azam. Fast bowler Muhammad Amir couldn’t join the team due to visa issues, but is expected to link up with the team shortly.

In Ireland, Pakistan is scheduled to compete in three T20 matches on May 10, 12, and 14, followed by a series in England, featuring four matches on May 22, 25, 28, and 30. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also unveiled the team’s kit for the T20 World Cup on the same day.

During the unveiling ceremony at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, alongside skipper Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and other officials, expressed optimism about clinching the T20 World Cup, reminiscent of their victory in 2009.

Naqvi revealed his wish to offer a prize exceeding $100,000 for the team’s success, emphasizing their remarkable talent and promising additional rewards for their achievements. Furthermore, he disclosed plans to travel to the United States to witness the highly anticipated Pakistan-India encounter.
