KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of gold ornaments at Karachi airport, resulting in the apprehension of the suspects involved.
According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Customs, the interception occurred at the Jinnah International Airport based on actionable intelligence. Customs officials intercepted a family bound for South Africa via Dubai and conducted a thorough inspection, uncovering 9.5 kilograms of gold ornaments and coins concealed among their belongings.
The confiscated items have an estimated value of Rs. 190 million.
Legal proceedings have been initiated under the Customs Act, and the apprehended individuals are currently in custody as investigations into the smuggling attempt continue.
