Pakistan Exports About 965,360 Metric Tons of Rice in 4 Months

ISLAMABAD: Rice valuing $545.708 million was exported during the first four months of the current financial year against the exports of $594.600 million in the same period last year.

According to the data received from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, in 2022 from July-October, about 965,360 metric tons of rice were exported against the exports of 1.091 million tons of rice in the same period last year.

The export of rice exports from the country recorded negative growth of 8.22 per cent as compared to last year, whereas overall food group exports recorded an increase of about 4.27 per cent.

Food commodities

Meanwhile, food commodities worth $1.493 billion in export were recorded in four months of the current financial year.

Moreover, the country made a $181.852 million profit by exporting about 173,684 metric tons of Basmati Rice as compared to the exports of 229,791 metric tons worth $198.526 million last year.

Besides Basmati Rice, 791,676 metric tons of rice valuing $363.856 million was also exported in the last four months as compared to the exports of 861,199 metric tons valued at 386.074 million in the same period last year.

Rice production

It is worth mentioning here that rice production in the country during the recent season was estimated at 5.53 million tons being sown over 2.99 million hectares of land.

According to the Bureau of Statistic, about 50,859 metric tons of fish valuing $134.595 million and 26,747 metric tons of meat and meat products worth $129.197 was also exported during the same period. – APP
