Pakistan Honors Hafeez Jalandhari on 41th Death Anniversary

LAHORE: Pakistan is set to observe 41th death anniversary of veteran poet and writer of national anthem Hafeez Jalandhari on Thursday.

Hafeez Jalandhari has always been remembered for his phenomenal and landmark services for the people of Pakistan.

He was born in Jalandhar, Punjab, on January 14, 1900. He migrated to Lahore after the independence of Pakistan in 1947.

Hafeez Jalandhari was a renowned lyricist and has written many famous songs. “Abhi To Mein Jawan Hoon” sung by Malika Pukhraj was written by him.

He also wrote short stories and literature for children.

He used the old forms neatly and chose eloquent expressions in his poems. Jalandhari also authored Kashmiri Anthem, ‘Watan Hamara Azad Kashmir’.

During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, he wrote many patriotic songs.

Pakistan government awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance to Hafeez Jalandhari for his patriotic services. He died on December 21, 1982, in Lahore at the age of 82.
