ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued updated guidelines for flights coming from Afghanistan and passing through Pakistan’s airspace.

The new regulations say that a minimum of 15 minutes advance notice must be given for all flights departing from Afghanistan and entering Pakistani airspace.

The CAA has further specified that air traffic services will be available to flights operating within Pakistan’s airspace, provided they give prior notification. These services will be made available via the area control centers in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

Additionally, flights will benefit from air traffic service via the Dushanbe and Islamabad Area Control Air Link, improving communication and coordination for flights navigating the region.

Safety, Efficiency Prioritized with Updated Guidelines

The CAA has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), which details the updated procedures in order to effectively communicate these changes. Airlines and operators are urged to adhere to these new guidelines, with the notice remaining in effect until November 2023.

The CAA spokesperson emphasized that these measures have been implemented to bolster the safety and efficiency of air travel in the region.
