RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s military top brass on Wednesday pledged to tighten the legal grip on the “planners and masterminds” responsible for a “hate-ripened and politically-driven rebellion against the state and state institutions.”

This consensus was reached during the 81st Formation Commanders Conference held at GHQ in Rawalpindi, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, presided over the Formation Commanders Conference. The conference was attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers, and all Formation Commanders of the Pakistan Army, according to a press release by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the conference, participants paid tribute to the supreme sacrifices made by the martyrs, including officers, soldiers, and law enforcement personnel who laid down their lives for the safety, security, and dignity of the country. A Fateha (prayer) was offered for the departed souls, and it was affirmed that the State of Pakistan and the Armed Forces will always hold martyrs and their families in the highest esteem, honoring their sacrifices with utmost respect and dignity.

The forum was briefed over the prevailing security environment, both internal and external challenges, and the Army’s operational preparedness in response to evolving threats. Participants were also informed about structural changes and niche technologies being incorporated to enhance operational readiness, as well as the upgradation of essential logistic infrastructure in line with emerging security imperatives.

COAS General Syed Asim Munir reiterated the Pakistan Army’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He emphasized the deep bond between the people of Pakistan and the Armed Forces, which remains central to all their undertakings. The recent events on May 25th were cited as a clear manifestation of this bond.

Pakistan’s Military Top Brass Condemns Baseless Allegations

The forum condemned unfounded and baseless allegations of custodial torture, human rights abuses, and stifling of political activities leveled against Law Enforcement Agencies and Security Forces. Such allegations were deemed as attempts to mislead the public and malign the Armed Forces for trivial vested political interests. COAS asserted that hostile forces and their abettors have been using fake news and propaganda to create societal division and confusion, but their designs will be defeated with the support of the nation.

Regarding the incidents on May 9th, where Shuhada Monuments and Jinnah House were desecrated, and military installations were attacked, the forum reaffirmed its firm resolve to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice under the Pakistan Army Act and Official Secret Act, derived from the Constitution of Pakistan.

The forum rejected attempts to create distortions and hide behind claims of human rights violations to shield those involved, emphasizing that abundant irrefutable evidence has been collected. It was stressed that the planners and masterminds behind the rebellion against the state and its institutions would face legal consequences, and any obstructions to the defeat of inimical forces would be dealt with firmly.

COAS emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism and motivation during operations and achieving excellence in the training of formations. He commended the commanders for their focus on the well-being and morale of their soldiers, which are vital for the Army’s operational readiness.

The conference concluded with a reaffirmation of the resolve to make all necessary sacrifices for the security and stability of the country, with the unwavering support of the proud people of Pakistan.
