ISLAMABAD: To enhance commuter safety, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has declared the reopening of key routes, including Motorway M2 from Islamabad to Balkasar, M1 from Islamabad to Peshawar, and Swat Expressway from Colonel Sher Khan to Ismaila.

The decision to resume normal operations for all types of traffic comes in response to the diminishing intensity of fog, as stated by an NHMP spokesperson.

NHMP underscores that the periodic closure of motorways prevents accidents and safeguards all road users’ lives and property. Citizens are urged to exercise caution and adhere to essential safety measures, particularly during foggy conditions.

Commuters are encouraged to plan daytime journeys, complete their travels in daylight, and aim to reach their destination before the onset of fog. Fog lights in vehicles are recommended to enhance visibility and ensure a safer travel experience. Commuters are advised to refrain from speeding and maintain a reasonable distance from the vehicle ahead.

Road users are reminded to stay informed by contacting the Motorway Police Helpline at 130 before embarking on their journey, as up-to-date information is crucial in ensuring a smooth commute.

For real-time updates on road conditions and advisories, travelers are directed to follow the official social media accounts of the National Highways and Motorway Police. As the roads reopen for regular traffic, citizens are earnestly requested to prioritize safety, exercise vigilance during their travels, and contribute to the overall safety of roadways. By adhering to these guidelines, commuters ensure their well-being and a secure journey for everyone on the roads, concluded the NHMP spokesperson. —APP
