Pakistan PM Orders Formation of Committee on Climate Change

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the formation of a committee to identify problems and formulate a comprehensive and efficient strategy to address the challenges posed by climate change.

He chaired a meeting in Lahore on Saturday focusing on issues related to the Ministry of Climate Change, where a progress briefing was provided regarding policies and projects implemented concerning climate change.

During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the links of climate change with various sectors such as agriculture, energy, water, infrastructure, and others.

He instructed the formation of a committee tasked with identifying climate change-related challenges and proposing effective solutions to tackle them

The meeting was attended by the Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, high-level officials of relevant departments and experts of climate change.
