Pakistan Police Arrest Four TTP Terrorists in Connection with Bisham Attack

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Monday to have arrested four terrorists of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), involved in a suicide attack targeting Chinese engineers’ vehicle in the Shangla district last month.

Describing the arrests as a major breakthrough, the KP CTD spokesperson in a statement identified the arrested terrorist as Adil Shehbaz, the mastermind, Muhammad Shafiq Qureshi, Zahid Qureshi, and Nazeer Hussain. The statement further stated that the group leader Adil Shehbaz an Afghan national hailing from the Jalalabad district of Afghanistan.

The four suspects, including Adil Shebaz, Muhammad Shafiq Qureshi, Zahid Qureshi, and Nazir Hussain, were reportedly residing in the Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The spokesperson stated, “The arrested terrorist Shehbaz has confessed to playing a key role in orchestrating the Bisham attack and admitted his affiliation with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).”

On March 26, a suicide bomber targeted a convoy escorting Chinese engineers in the remote Bisham area of the Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leaving six people, including five Chinese engineers, dead.

The Chinese engineers were traveling from Islamabad to their camp in Dasu, the district headquarters of Upper Kohistan district in KP when their vehicle was struck by an explosive-laden vehicle on the Karakoram Highway near Lahore Nala.

The force of the explosion caused the Chinese engineers’ vehicle to veer off the mountainous road and plummet into a deep ravine.
