ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways Police has issued stringent directives to all Superintendent of Police (SP) Railways to bolster security measures in trains and stations during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivities. The move aims to prevent any potential untoward incidents during the holiday period.

According to an official from the Ministry, SPs Railways have been instructed to deploy adequate personnel at entry and exit points of railway stations and maintain vigilant surveillance over suspicious individuals. Additionally, Pakistan Railways Police Commando Force will be stationed at vulnerable installations and onboard trains, with bomb disposal units on standby for luggage and passenger screenings.

Ahead of train departures, SPs Railways have been tasked with conducting thorough checks of empty rakes to ensure safety protocols are adhered to. Moreover, they are mandated to be present during Eid holidays and conduct random inspections of trains, stations, and accompanying staff to reinforce security measures.

With a surge in passenger traffic expected before Eid-ul-Fitr, Pakistan Railways has arranged special trains across the country to accommodate the additional influx of travelers. Notably, four Eid special trains will operate from Karachi to Peshawar, Quetta to Rawalpindi, Karachi to Lahore, and Lahore to Karachi, offering enhanced convenience for passengers during the festive season.

The first special train will depart from Karachi to Peshawar on April 7 at 6:00 am, followed by another from Quetta to Rawalpindi at 10:00 am on the same day. Subsequently, a train will embark from Karachi Cantonment to Lahore on April 8 at 9:00 pm, with the final Eid special passenger train departing from Lahore to Karachi on April 9 at 5:00 pm.

The proactive security measures undertaken by Pakistan Railways Police underscore the commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers traveling during Eid-ul-Fitr, thereby fostering a secure and enjoyable journey for all.
