Pakistan Records 10.78 Percent Decline in Agricultural Chemicals Import

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s agricultural chemicals import has experienced a decline of 10.78% during the first month of the current financial year when compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.

Agriculture and other chemical imports totaled $718.801 million in July 2023, down from $805.634 million in the same month of the previous year, said the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

The import of 2,987 metric tons of insecticides, valued at $17.789 million, was imported in the first month of the current fiscal year. Comparatively, the imports for the same time period last year were 3,114 metric tons and were worth $24.064 million.

Import of Plastic Materials

Imports of plastic materials of 156,948 metric tons and $204.250 million were noted during the review period. This was in contrast to the prior year’s import of 143,102 metric tons, valued at $241.805 million, during the same period.

At the same time, 2,502 metric tons of medical supplies worth $93.541 million were imported to meet domestic needs. In contrast, the prior period had imports of 2,333 metric tons, amounting to $92.451 million.
