ISLAMABAD: After a long time, the Pakistan Hockey team seemed in full rhythm while receiving huge applause from the national game lovers as the green shirts after defeating Malaysia and South Korea managed to have a 1-1 draw with Japan during the ongoing Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia on Tuesday.

During the nail-biting contest, Japan managed to get the lead in the third quarter of the game after Ken Nagayoshi successfully converted a penalty corner in the 33rd minute.

The first three quarters were mostly dominated by Japan, and Pakistan seemed to finish on the losing side. However, Rana Waheed Ashraf helped the green shirts to level the match after a well-worked penalty corner in the 11th hour (last minute) of the match.

This was the third match by Pakistan with two wins on board after defeating South Korea by 4-0 and Malaysia by 5-4.

Pakistan Back to Form in Hockey

As it’s just the beginning, however, Pakistani fans are delighted by the recent performance of the players, as they haven’t experienced such a turnaround from the national players for many years. After winning the first two games and having an equaliser in the third game, fans are expecting an impressive finish from the national team in the event.

Pakistan would face Canada on May 8 in their fourth match at the same venue.
