Pakistan Reports 50 New Coronavirus Cases

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s health officials said on Monday that 50 new Coronavirus cases were reported during the last 24 hours from across the country.

As per details shared by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the Covid-19 cases positivity ratio was 1.12 percent, while ten patients were in critical condition.

No death was reported from the infectious Coronavirus in the last 24 hours while 4,472 Coronavirus tests were conducted.

As many as 1,024 Coronavirus tests were conducted in Lahore, out of which 24 cases were confirmed with a ratio of 2.34 percent, while 240 tests were conducted in Karachi. Out of these 240 tests, seven cases were confirmed with a ratio of 2.92 percent.

Health system ready to deal with Coronavirus

Meanwhile, Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel said the government had strengthened the Health Services system in Pakistan to deal with any sub-variant of Covid-19 disease.

The health minister said a surveillance system existed at all country’s entry points, including airports. He said there would be rapid tests and screening of passengers at all airports. He said the situation was completely under control. He asked the general public to avoid listening to baseless rumours.

The minister added that the Corona case passivity ratio in the country was just 0.3 to 0.5, while 90 percent of the country’s population was already vaccinated for COVID-19.

Patel said that the health system was completely prepared to deal with any sub-variant of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, including BF.7 in the country.
