Pakistan to Continue Top Performance in T20I Series Against England: Babar Azam

DUBLIN: Pakistan Men’s cricket team captain Babar Azam has said that Pakistan cricket team will continue to play with the same ‘positive intent’ against England, it showcased against Ireland in the last two T20Is of the series in Dublin.

In post-match conversation with the PCB YouTube channel in Dublin, Babar Azam said the team has improved on many areas of the game during the series in both batting and bowling. Babar Azam reiterated his team’s commitment to maintaining a “positive intent” and aggressive approach as they prepare to face England in a four-match T20I series starting from May 22.

Babar expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s performance in the recently concluded T20I series against Ireland. He highlighted improvements in both batting and bowling areas, emphasizing the team’s resolve to continue playing with the same positive mindset against England.

Pakistan clinched the T20I series against Ireland 2-1, with a convincing victory in the third T20I by six wickets. Babar credited extraordinary performances from players like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan for the series win.

Babar singled out Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman for their notable performances in the middle order during the second and third T20Is against Ireland. He also commended Azam Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed for their contributions in the lower middle order.

The skipper emphasized that Pakistan played with positive intent after a setback in the first T20I against Ireland. He expressed confidence in carrying the same momentum into the upcoming series against England.

Babar praised senior bowlers like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Amir for leading from the front in the last two T20Is. He also lauded Abbas Afridi for adapting well to the pressures of international cricket.

Babar Azam particularly highlighted the contributions of Imad Wasim, who played crucial roles in navigating difficult situations with his bowling during the series.

Looking ahead, Babar Azam emphasized the importance of rectifying mistakes made during the Ireland T20I series, considering the limited number of matches before the ICC T20 World Cup.

Regarding the support from fans, Babar acknowledged the partisan backing received by the team from Pakistan fans in Dublin. He urged Pakistani cricket fans to continue their unwavering support as the team gears up for upcoming challenges.
