Pakistan to Face Japan in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Final on May 11

ISLAMABAD: After a long time, Pakistan hockey fans have some exciting news after a blistering performance by the Pakistan Hockey team in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2024 after topping the points table and booking their place in the final. Pakistan would now face Japan in the grand final to be played in Ipoh, Malaysia, on May 11.

Pakistan topped the table in the round matches after registering three wins against South Korea, Malaysia, Canada and a 1-1 draw with Japan. Japan also had three wins and a draw settled second on the table with net rate.

Malaysia and New Zealand are placed third and fourth respectively with six points.

Earlier in the initial games Pakistan defeated South Korea by 4-0, Malaysia by 5-4 and Canada by 5-4. Pakistan is playing the final round match against New Zealand today, however, the green shirts have already qualified for the final.

Pakistan Back to Form in Hockey

As it’s just the beginning, however, Pakistani fans are delighted by the recent performance of the players, as they haven’t experienced such a turnaround from the national players for many years. After winning the first two games and having an equaliser in the third game, fans are expecting an impressive finish from the national team, in the final against Japan to win the title.
