ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, highlighted that Pakistan has adopted an ambitious NDC plan to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50%, while State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and SECP have issued guidelines for the adoption of Green Industry practices.
She was virtually addressing to the “Development Finance for 2030 Agenda: Environmentally Safe Industrialization” conference hosted by UNCTAD in Geneva on Thursday.
In her address, she pointed out that Pakistan’s central bank and securities regulator (SECP) have issued guidelines to promote the adoption of environmentally friendly practices in the industrial sector.

Dr. Akhtar emphasized the importance of global collaboration and action to accelerate investments in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She also stressed the need for addressing debt-related challenges in developing economies.
