Pakistan, Uzbekistan to Start Work on Trade Corridor with Afghanistan: Uzbek Minister

ISLAMABAD: Uzbekistan Deputy Minister for Transport and Aviation, Jasurbek Choriev has said that both Pakistan and Uzbekistan have decided to start work on the trilateral trade corridor with Afghanistan, which would be a great initiative for regional economic integration.

The deputy minister said that while talking to APP during the Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF) on Wednesday, adding that all three parties including Afghanistan were willing to launch and complete this trade corridor as its implementation would boost regional trade and strengthen economic activities in the regional countries.

The minister stated that Pakistan was the foremost priority economic partner of Pakistan and both sides have recently engaged in different sectors at the economic and trade level adding that partnership between the two brethren countries would be vital for the region.

Jasurbek Choriev said that Uzbekistan as the central country of Central Asia has great importance in the region whereas Pakistan has a crucial Geo-Strategic importance in South Asia being located in neighboring Central Asia.

Direct flight Between Pakistan, Uzbekistan From October

He added that air, rail and road connectivity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan was crucial to boost bilateral trade between the two sides adding that the direct flight between Pakistan and Uzbekistan would be commenced from October this year.

Responding to a question, the minister said that the economic and trade relations between the two nations began from the historic Silk Route and both sides were determined to revive the old Silk Route, being a historical trade artery between East and West having cultural, economic and geopolitical importance.
