ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday warned India of dire consequences, and cautions against misadventures.

His statement came in response to inflammatory remarks made by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during a televised interview.

Asif referenced the past incident involving the capture and subsequent release of Indian pilot Abhinandan by Pakistan, citing it as a gesture of goodwill despite India’s attempted infiltration. He cautioned India against repeating such actions, emphasizing that Pakistan would respond fittingly to any misadventures.

The minister attributed India’s aggressive rhetoric to domestic political maneuvers, dismissing it as electioneering tactics aimed at garnering public support. While reiterating Pakistan’s preference for regional stability, Asif warned India of reciprocal measures in the event of provocations.

Highlighting India’s alleged sponsorship of terrorism within and outside Pakistan, Asif urged restraint during the election period to avoid escalation. He expressed hope for a peaceful resolution and urged India to refrain from actions that could lead to undesirable consequences.

In a pointed remark, Asif referenced past incidents and urged India to exercise caution to prevent any further incidents that would require Pakistan’s charitable responses.
