Pakistan Will Not Go to Paris Club

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday categorially announced that Pakistan will not go to Paris Club for its debt rescheduling.

Addressing the All Pakistan Chartered Accountant Conference in Islamabad, the finance minister said that the coalition government was faced with many problems. Pakistan needed 32 to 34 billion dollars from external sources this year.

He said that the government was fully aware of the problems of Pakistan and it is trying its best to solve them. “It’s our duty to bring out Pakistan from the numerous problems,” he added.

Highlighting the Economic Situation

Highlighting the economic situation of the country, Dar said that bonds worth 1 billion dollars would mature in December and its timely payment is necessary.

He said that despite numerous problems, the government succeeded to avoid default and now it is working to bring economic stability to the country.

The minister said that inflation is a reality but it was impossible to end it in six months. Pakistan is badly affected by recent floods, creating several challenges in the economic sector.
