ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan grapples with a sharp rise in electricity bills and utility costs, celebrities from the entertainment industry have joined the chorus of public outrage, shedding light on the financial strain faced by citizens due to soaring expenses and taxes.

While fluctuations in prices have affected various utilities, it is the monthly electricity bills that have taken a heavy toll on the masses, leaving many struggling to make ends meet.

In response to this mounting issue, numerous Pakistani stars have come forward to share their staggering electricity bills on social media, which have left them astounded and concerned for the financial well-being of the average citizen. Many of these celebrities have found themselves facing hefty charges despite having been away on vacations or traveling.

Actress Nadia Khan recently sparked a conversation on this matter when she posed a question to her industry peers about their electricity bills. The revelations that followed were nothing short of shocking, with some celebrities disclosing that they had resorted to converting their homes to solar energy as a cost-saving measure.

Electricity Bills of Showbiz Stars

Actress Sadia Imam, for instance, disclosed that her electricity bill amounted to PKR 67,000, prompting her to switch to solar energy. The conversion brought her relief, resulting in a significantly reduced bill of PKR 19,000.

Nida Yasir, host of the popular morning show, revealed that she and her family had been away on vacation for half a month, yet she received a staggering six-figure bill of PKR 100,000. She expressed her efforts to cut down on energy consumption but noted that even transitioning to solar energy comes with a substantial upfront cost.

Actress and model Fiza Ali shared her own plight, having received a bill worth PKR 67,000 despite her efforts to limit energy use and her frequent travels, which kept her away from home.

Nadia Khan herself was taken aback when she received a bill for PKR 75,000. Interestingly, during the billing period, she was not at home, having been in Thailand and later visiting her father in Islamabad, leaving her residence largely unoccupied.

These revelations highlight the pressing issue of rising electricity costs and the burden it places on both the general public and celebrities alike. As citizens grapple with these escalating bills, there is growing concern about the impact on the already strained household budgets of many Pakistani families.
