BEIJING: The second batch of Pakistani mangoes arrived in Nanning, the capital of China’s southwest autonomous region of Guangxi, according to Adnan Hafeez, Director of Imperial Ventures (Pvt) Ltd.

The shipment of one ton of Sindhri variety was brought by YTO Express through a newly opened cargo flight between Lahore and Nanning, according to the businessman in an interview with China Economic Net (CEN). He said that they have been working with this airline for four years and are confident in continuing to do so because the level of cooperation and understanding is high.

He said that the Pakistani king of fruits, known for its huge size, yellow color, and plentiful sweetness, will be shared with Major Chinese B2B clients and outlets for samples after custom clearance and necessary certifications by the relevant Chinese authorities. He explained that since introducing Pakistani mangoes samples to the Chinese market in recent years, Adnan’s team has been trying to improve mango quality as well as packaging and storage techniques.

He said that they recently conducted a mango bagging activity in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in order to increase quality at the source. He said that because air cargo is still expensive, more emphasis would be placed on cost savings. He said they are attempting to send unripe and bulk-packing packing mangoes to save cost. Adnan said that the first cargo of Pakistani mangoes arrived in Nanning on May 31 and was distributed directly to a large Chinese fruit seller.  In an interview, a Guangzhou-based enterprise told CEN that another batch of Sindri mangoes weighing 3.5 tonnes would arrive in Nanning on June 10 and would be sold both online and offline.

According to a recent report, Pakistani mangos will make their debut in China’s Xinjiang this year, as a Pakistani logistics enterprise is preparing to carry the Pakistani king of fruits to Xinjiang through a land route. In an interview, a Guangzhou-based enterprise told CEN that another batch of Sindri mangoes weighing 3.5 tonnes would arrive in Nanning on June 10 and would be sold both online and offline. —APP
