Pakistani Renowned Classical Singer Ustad Badar-uz-Zaman Dies

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani renowned classical singer Ustad Badar-uz-Zaman passed away in Lahore on Friday. He was 83.

He was born on April 21, 1940. He learnt classic music from Ustad Chotay Ghulam Ali Khan and Bao Faiz.

He contributed to Pakistani Classical Music by promoting compositions of the sub-continent’s Muslim Musical maestros.

He was educated at the University of the Punjab, Lahore, securing top position in bachelors of music and M.A. in political science.

Ustad Badar-uz-Zaman had also written fourteen books to highlight different genres of classical music.

In recognition of his meritorious services rendered in the field of classical music he was awarded pride of performance in 2006, by the government of Pakistan.

Civil society members, people from the showbiz industry, and other public figures have expressed a deep sorrow over the sad demise of Ustad Badar-uz-Zaman.

They said that the services of Ustad Badar-uz-Zaman for music will always be remembered.
