Pakistani Runners Presence at London Marathon

LONDON: The London Marathon of this year marked a historic turnout of Pakistani athletes, highlighting a significant presence in one of the esteemed World Major Marathons.

Leading the charge among Pakistani male runners, Muhammad Usman set an impressive pace, completing the marathon in an astounding 2 hours and 59 minutes, closely trailed by Miqdad Muhammad, crossing the finish line in 3 hours and 15 minutes. In the women’s division, Aisha Qamar showcased her prowess with a remarkable time of 2 hours and 59 minutes, closely followed by Sara Lodhi at 3 hours and 22 minutes.

Representatives from both Karachi and Islamabad, alongside a Pakistani expatriate, comprised the Pakistani contingent, with outstanding performances from individuals like Zain Anwar, Abdul Sami, Yawar Siddiqui, and others.

The female athletes also demonstrated their prowess, with notable performances from Hira Diwan, Jevi Majid, Nida Yawar, and others.

Beyond the competitive sphere, the participation of diverse individuals from Pakistan, including Express News anchorperson Rehman Azhar in his third World Major Marathon, was heartening.

This robust display of Pakistani talent at the London Marathon underscores the escalating zeal and commitment of the nation’s athletes on the global platform.
