Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Visits Shouguang, China’s Vegetable Capital

BEIJING: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, embarked on an orientation tour of Shandong province, culminating in a one-day visit to Shouguang county, renowned as China’s “vegetable capital,” at the invitation of the Shouguang government.

Ambassador Hashmi participated in the opening ceremony of the 25th China (Shouguang) International Vegetable Science and Technology Expo, delivering remarks and touring the expo, including a visit to the Pakistan pavilion.

At the Expo’s opening ceremony, Ambassador Hashmi lauded the event’s role in advancing global agricultural innovation and cooperation. He praised Shouguang’s leadership in vegetable production, noting its international acclaim as a hub for cutting-edge facility vegetables.

Highlighting the enduring China-Pakistan partnership, particularly in agriculture, Ambassador Hashmi underscored its significance as a cornerstone of bilateral relations. He showcased Pakistan’s agrarian landscape, emphasizing its substantial contributions to GDP and employment.

The ambassador spotlighted the forthcoming Food and Agri Expo in August 2024, where China will be honored, as a pivotal platform for deepening collaboration and exchanges within the agricultural sector.

Stakeholders, specialists, entrepreneurs, and investors were cordially invited by Ambassador Hashmi to investigate prospects in Pakistan’s agricultural domain.

During his visit to Shouguang, the ambassador engaged with municipal leadership to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Shouguang. Discussions encompassed investment opportunities, joint ventures, and institutional mechanisms to strengthen bilateral ties.

Ambassador Hashmi also visited various agricultural demonstration bases in Shouguang, further underscoring the potential for robust collaboration and knowledge sharing between Pakistan and China in the agricultural domain.
