Pakistan’s Exports Up by 9.10 Percent to Settle at $25bn in 10 Months

ISLAMABAD: The exports from the country recorded an increase of 9.10 percent during the first ten months of the current fiscal year (2023-24) against the corresponding period of the previous year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported on Thursday.

According to the PBS data, the exports during July-April (2023-24) were witnessed at $25.280 billion as compared to last year’s figure of $23.171 billion.

Meanwhile, imports into the country went down by 4.09 percent to settle at $44.794 billion during the current year compared to last year’s imports of $46.706 billion.

In a contest of figures, the trade deficit during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year was witnessed at $19.514 billion compared to the deficit of $23.535 billion in the previous year, indicating a fall of 17.09 percent.

Export, Import on Yearly, Monthly Bases

Similarly, on a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis, the exports from the country went up by 10.02 percent in April 2024, to settle at $2.349 billion as compared to $2.135 billion in April 2023.

On the other hand, the imports during April 2024 were witnessed at $4.723 billion against the imports of $2.981 billion in the same period last year, showing an increase of 58.43 percent.

On a month-on-month (m-o-m) basis, the exports from the country went down by 8.67 percent against the exports of $2.572 billion in March 2023.

The imports into the country also decreased by 3.08 percent against the imports of $4.873 billion in March 2024, according to PBS data.
