ISLAMABAD: Gohar Ayub Khan, former National Assembly speaker and ex-foreign minister of Pakistan, has passed away at the age of 86 after a brief illness.
The son of former president and field marshal Mohammed Ayub Khan, Gohar Ayub Khan played a significant role in supporting his father’s presidential rule after the 1965 presidential election.
His death was confirmed by his son, Omar Ayub Khan, Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and former federal minister. The funeral is scheduled to take place on Saturday at 3:00 pm in Village Rehana, District Haripur.
Gohar Ayub Khan, a retired army officer and prominent figure in the Pakistan Muslim League, held ministerial positions during Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s tenure.
